HOW WE MAKE SENSE OF EXPERIENCE THROUGH LANGUAGE

ABSTRACTION is originally a Latin word and can be literally translated as pulled off from.  

Abstraction, a hallmark of human cognition, is the ability to pull off information from experiences, to construct meaning.

Language plays an important role in helping us to form, label, and communicate conceptual abstractions.

The goal of the ABSTRACTION project is that of explaining how different types of words relate to our ability to abstract. We will investigate how abstraction works in human thought, language and creativity.
